Wille Valkeisenmäki
CV

I design and build systems that make people’s lives and work easier, and remove meaningless tasks.

  1. On a 390 px phone the first project’s picture starts inside the first screen. I wanted people to see work before they read about me.

For more than five years I was the only designer at oeksound. Now I design and build the whole system Mikebon runs on, from the store about 70 shops order from to the app that tracks pallets in the warehouse. I also make my own apps.

Selected work

  1. 70%of a regular reseller’s order is a restock

    Mikebon

A live B2B platform for about 70 reseller stores, their sales reps and the office.

    1. One line per project

Each project gets one line drawn from its own data, the number that changed how I designed it. They all use the same thin stroke. The red dot is the bit to look at.

  2. oeksound

soothe2, soothe live, bloom and spiff share one interface, from studio sessions to touchscreen consoles at front of house.

9/10MusicTech’s score for bloom, with its “fluid and intuitive user interface” listed among the pros

  3. Spår

It replaced Google Keep for me on my Android phone and Windows desktop. About 240 notes live in it now.

4of 240 notes ever sorted by the feature I cut

    1. Spår’s row is dark because the app is dark. Each case study borrows its product’s own colours, while the grid and the type stay the same everywhere.

  4. Nappa

Each spot gets one national rank ("Top 1 % for pike") and each hour gets one word. The old card had three numbers fighting each other.

Experience

  1. 2025–now

    Mikebon

    Product designer & developer

I came back to rebuild the systems Mikebon runs on: the B2B store, the tablet app sales reps order with in the field, the office admin, a new retail webshop and the link to the old ERP. A warehouse app for pallets is next. IT used to be outsourced, and I brought it in-house.

  2. 2025–2026

    Bugbear Entertainment

    Senior UI artist

A fixed-term contract on Wreckfest 2, on site in Helsinki. I designed UI for the game and built it in the studio’s own engine. The contract ran its term, and I moved back to product work.

  3. 2019–2024

    oeksound

    Sole product & visual designer

I was oeksound’s only designer. I did the plug-in interfaces, the brand and the marketing, and worked every day with the founders and the developers.

  4. 2012–now

    WV Design (independent practice)

    Freelance designer

My own clients, on the side of my jobs: brands, editorial work and the odd web product.

  5. 2016–2017

    Mikebon

    Art director

My first time at Mikebon. I ran the brand and visual design in print and online, and redesigned the web store.

  6. 2015

    Danske Bank

Graphic design consultant & web editor

Sales material for the bank’s online channels across the Nordics, and editing its Danish, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish websites.

  7. 2015

    Genero

    Junior graphic designer

Web visuals for a food brand, made with the agency’s creative team.

  8. 2014

    Energiateollisuus (Finnish Energy)

    Graphic designer

A summer job: I refreshed the look of the association’s website and made sites for its contests, plus the print material to match.

  9. 2012–2013

    Aalto University Student Union (AYY)

    Graphic designer

Print and web for the student union, from the yearly calendar to the annual report.

About

Portrait of Wille Valkeisenmäki

I started out on an obscure Warcraft forum for custom games, making banners and signatures for other members and modding maps.

That turned into graphic design studies, then editorial and brand work, and slowly into products. At oeksound I designed the plug-in interfaces, the brand and the website, for tools used by people like Skrillex, Nolly and Sean “Sully” Sullivan. I finished my BA at Aalto in 2024 alongside that job, because I wanted the theory behind what I was already doing every day.

What I want to do is build something big that helps a company grow. Systems that make people’s work easier and get rid of meaningless tasks. At Mikebon the tech had always been outsourced, so I took it back in-house. I design and build the software and keep the servers running myself.

Swiss design shaped how I learned to design, the grid and the restraint most of all. I want to work where that thinking is part of everyday product work.

Away from the screen I take photographs and fish. I started fishing as a kid with my dad, and these days it’s mostly fly fishing. Nappa came out of that.
